Now that I'm losing weight consistently and my clothes are starting to look pretty silly…it's time to focus on getting toned up a bit.  I mean, I'm thrilled that I'm losing weight and almost halfway to my goal, but I don't want to get to goal and be skinny-flabby.

That is why this Sunday I am going to start Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred!  I'm going to be totally honest with you, I am kind of intimidated.  I am worried about the intensity of the workouts and how it is going to effect my body.  I guess the only way to find out is to give it a go!

Either way, more exercise and activity is in order.  Not to speed up my weight loss, because quite frankly if I was losing any more weight, I'd be quite concerned.  I can't even tell you the shock I experienced seeing 4 pounds gone on the scale this week, while it made me happy, it also concerned me.  My weight loss has yet to slow down to 2 lbs or less, which I was sure it would have by now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I just don't want my weight to yo-yo and I know that slow weight loss (1-3 pounds/per week) is the best indicator that I won't just put a bunch of weight back on when I transition out of Medifast!  Enough with the worries and concerns….did I mention that I can:

Fit back into my 7 jeans!!! Remember, that was Jeans goal #1!!!  Now, my muffin top looks like it is back with a vengeance in this picture, but that is because the jeans are pretty tight still.  I do believe I'll be able to wear them comfortably by the end of next week though!!  Either way, I'm super happy.  And…my muffin top in my regular clothes is almost completely gone friends!!

What little tips have you learned that have made a difference in meeting your weight loss goals?

This Week:

I'm proud of these choices:

I'm staying on plan with Medifast!
Our whole family is eating better now (even Zion has been wanting more green veggies)!

I'd like to work more on:

Exercise, period.
Refocusing on getting full nights of sleep!

I totally cheated when:

I didn't really cheat at all this week, however; I've taken in a few more calories than what the plan would have me take in, and it really hasn't upset things at all.   I'm still in shock that I lost 4 lbs!

How did you do this week?

Want to catch up on my weight loss journey?

  1. Congrats! While reading this, something occurred to me: Women call their (ahem) excess 'Muffin Top', men call our a 'Beer Gut'. We men have GOT to come up with some cuter names. I think there's a post there somewhere...

  2. I am really enjoying watching your progress with this, Courtney. You're looking great. Maybe I should look into this Medifast thing. And also exercise more.

  3. Way to go! Seriously, 18 lbs is awesome! I need to be better. I've learn that the only way I'm motivated to lose weight is by money... So what is this point system you are using? Very interested!

Woo Hoo!@0ec5cef7f60ca9daf3380c19e57edba6  This is so great!  Just don't get discouraged if the Jillian Michael DVD is too hard.  Switch to something a little easier and build up to it!  The best thing you can do is just start.  anything.  Congratulations and good luck with the workouts.  Exercise will make an amazing difference in the shape of your body.  If you're interested, I'm hosting a giveaway for the Fit Moms for Life book at my blog.  It has great exercise and nutrition tips.

  13. i LOVE jillians 30 day shred!  it helped me lose all my baby weight from my first, and i can't wait to do it again in a few months to lose all i've gained with my current pregnancy.  it does get tough, but you can push yourself to do SO much more than you think you can... and you see the results which helps motivate you!  so push through it... i saw it's effects on my body VERY quickly!  great job!!!!  keep it up; you look great!

  15. Congratulations, Courtney! I've been doing Weight Watchers since the end of December and it is so empowering to see the weight come off!!

I really like the 30-Day Shred. It's EXTREMELY effective in body-sculpting and it's amazing how quickly your endurance will improve. My only caution is to be careful not to push yourself too hard too quickly with it. I got a little aggressive using it a couple summers ago and injured my knee (it still hasn't completely healed). If you're careful, joint and backwise though, it is seriously awesome and even though it HURTS SO MUCH, you will be amazed at how great you feel after even three or four days. My best friend is a yoga instructor and she still swears by Jillian. Good luck!!

  16. I love how disciplined you are and how you're tracking this. My goal weight is 130 too and I just finished Jillain's Making the Cut and I'm not going to lie-- it was tough but she is so great with giving you what you need. My weakness is jelly beans and I'm a certified sports nutritionist-- lol-- Can't wait to see how things go this week!

    Good luck:)

  17. I'm so encouraged by your comment Elizabeth! I've seen the pictures of before/after with the shred so I'm definitely hoping it does what it promises. I did my first workout this morning and wowza! I tried to do everything as beginner/modified as I could because I've been injured before doing new exercise programs. :)

  18. It has taken a lot to get to where I am at now…years before I could even feel disciplined. But I'm pretty bound and determined now. I did my first workout with Jillian today, and I love her no BS approach! :)
