Out Sick
I'll Do It ... Tomorrow...
Yep. This is happening. I had a fantastic Birthday weekend, so much to share with you all, so many pictures from our road trip to Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut, but unfortunately I picked up a nasty cold - so I'm just trying to survive with my little never-outta-energy 2 year old.
Coming up on BaxtronLife : Road Trip Pictures & Stories, Simply September and MY 1st Blog Anniversary!!
Stay tuned...and pray for quick healing! <3

Blog Angels Reveal
Blog Angels has come to a close - which means today is the BIG REVEAL! So, who did I help out this month? And does she know it was me?
I was a Blog Angel for the Lovely:
What did I do for Kendra this month? Well - I gave her one of my top ad spots for free. (That may have given it away completely - but I hope not!!)
Included with the ad space - she received twitter shouts:
pins to pinterest - like this amazing Key Lime Chicken Recipe:
a solo feature with the option to give-away an item - check it out:
Today is the last chance to enter her sweet giveaway!
I also was able to connect Kendra to Shaylee Ann just in time for her to become a regular host of the weekly Link & Mingle party:
Still time to link up to this week's partay!
Lastly, I had the chance to chat with Kendra via email and hopefully encourage her with a few tips on how to engage her audience.
From when she started to now - her readership has at least doubled and nearly tripled! I can't take credit for that however; she is proving to be quite the networker and has been building her blog like crazy!
Kendra <3 Hope you felt I helped in some way! I enjoyed getting to know you - and I'm so happy that you bought ad space on BaxtronLife for next month! Guess what! I'm giving you that "Lovely" space for 2 months! <3 Looking forward to getting to know you more!!

Savoring Summertime
Coney Island Beach
Savoring Summertime
Quiet doesn't seem in the cards for me at this point - I've got my in-laws coming this weekend and we'll be taking a fun road trip to Vermont, Martha's Vineyard and Mystic (again - I love it so much there)! It will definitely be an adventure considering we'll have 4 adults and a toddler packed in a car and doing 2 hours stretches of travel. Zion will get to have her first ever Ferry ride, we'll visit a huge Farmer's Market in Vermont (hopefully stocking up on delicious Maple syrup). I can promise one thing - it won't be quiet but it will definitely be a fantastic adventure!
When I look back on this Summer it has been one of the most busy and stressful I have ever had. A lot of days I haven't had the true joy that I usually feel when it comes to this time of year. We've made some sacrifice-: Jerry decided to study and take his CPA exam (effectively sucking every last minute of downtime away to studying), and I've done some major learning about God's plan for my life: hint - it's not running a blogging business.
At the same time, I have had some of the best moments this Summer - and this adventure to Coney Island Beach with Zion was one of the biggest highlights. We just had the best time together - from playing in the sand, to floating in the waves, experiencing the thrill of an amusement park for the first time, enjoying Nathan's on the boardwalk, and delicious Ice Cream - everything was just wonderful. It is a day that I will forever treasure in my heart. Zion was just so happy - the entire day!
What are some of your favorite memories from this summer? I asked a few of my lovelies to share theirs with me as we collectively move forward into Fall. :) I really love what they shared.
Have a favorite Summer memory you want to share with me?

BlogLovin' - Why You Should
Link & Mingle!
BlogLovin' - Why You Should
Link & Mingle!
So, what's the big deal with BlogLovin'?
BlogLovin' acts as both a directory and a reader. The site allows you to add your favorite blogs and then follow their posts in a very streamlined and modern way. You receive a daily digest email with new posts listed out in headline/short intro format.
BlogLovin' is a great way to stay current with your favorite blogs! It is also set to become a huge player as they focus largely on U.S. Bloggers in the next year. Even if you don't use it as a reader right now, you should definitely head over there and "Claim" your blog.
Once you've claimed it, you can create a button on your website to gain BlogLovin' followers - and just make those who are obsessed with it happy by making it easy to find you on there.
Go check it out, and make sure you follow Baxtron{Life} via BlogLovin' too!

And now we're back with the Link & Mingle - make sure you ENGAGE with the new people you check out - if you follow someone on twitter - tweet them to let them know, if you follow someone on Facebook - leave them a wall post. It is sometimes really hard to connect if no one takes that first step of saying "Hey, I checked you out, and liked what I saw, so now I'm following!"

The long of it is, the "Link and Mingle: Sisters in Blogging Social Media Linkup".
The short is, the "Link & Mingle". Call it what you wish. :)

BlogHer12 Afterthoughts
If I hear "Amazeballs" One More Time...
Hey guys! As promised I have one final BlogHer related post to share with you guys before I bury the subject and (thankfully) move on! This one, I think, you will find the MOST valuable. Today - I want to share with you the best tips and tricks I learned while at the conference. I will try to source as much as possible, but some things are a blur! I also can't promise I won't jump around a bit topically. I hope you learn something fantastic that you can use going forward!!
Your VOICE is Uniquely Yours! Don't lose it! - And at the same time, be TRUE to it. Of course - first you may need to find your voice. I loved this reminder that was first given by Martha Stewart at her keynote, and then echoed through most every panel I attended. You have a voice - and maybe you're not sure of it just yet, but over time, you should be able to separate yourself and your voice from the voices around you. So, instead of seeing others doing great things and then mimicking or following along with their ideas, you'll begin to utilize your own creativity, talking style, etc.
Let me give you an example of how to NOT use your own voice...in blogging someone will come up with a slang word or term, and then it will become viral in posts. I'm going to state the example of "Amazeballs" because, well, I HATE this term and its EVERYwhere. Do you say Amazeballs in public? While chatting with friends? While conversing with your family? If you do, then that would be a part of your true voice. If not - than you are not being true to your own voice. Be YOU on your blog.
SEO Matters. I know, I know, it's been said a million times. And there are literally millions of articles out there on how to do it, how to trick the system, etc. Let me caution you though, Google is constantly improving its search engine algorithm and you have to be wise about staying up to speed with how you code. I could do a whole post on this, but I just want to leave you with a couple of SEO tips from the conference:
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret - the people who made Google, also made Google+. And they kinda love themselves, so um, Google+ is KIND OF A BIG DEAL when it comes to SEO. This means, for one, LEARN everything you can about how to optimize your presence on Google+. Then, +1 your posts, add a +1 button to your blog, give +1's to other people's articles you are trying to promote, etc. Google likes to keep the love in the Google family, so DON'T disregard Google+.
You would be wise to learn a little bit about "H" Tags. These different levels of "headers" draw the attention of Google's algorithm, and can be the perfect place to put your key words. H2 tags, so HOT right now, so hot! Read these great SEO articles here, here and here to get up to speed. Also make sure to use your keyword tool and learn where to place them for optimum SEO.
Then DO IT! Don't lose the heart of writing. Write from your heart. The biggest take-away I got from BlogHer 12 is the source of where I'll be going from here on out - and it is this: don't let the BUSINESS of blogging steal your purpose for blogging. If you started like me, dreaming of developing and mastering a writing talent - then don't lose sight of that. Define your goals for your blog, whether its making it a business, a book platform, a creative outlet - and then just GO FOR IT!
